Another report claims that the big problem with HR Transformation is HR capability! The report also suggests that as a possible consequence of this employee engagement in transformation has also suffered in 2007.
Organizations have yet to make any headway in the chronic problem of re-skilling HR staff. For the fourth year running, this issue ranks first, and is selected by a significant portion of respondents.
Perhaps because of this chronic problem, lack of employee/business line buy-in has moved up in the ranks of hurdles over prior years, signaling a need for HR to do a better job pre-selling the value of transformation. Incongruously, respondents report that building a justifiable business case is less of a hurdle than in previous years.
Sorry to rant but I’m really starting to get bored with this especially as it follows a number of similar recent reports .
Please HR can we get this sorted in 2008? Get the training, develop your staff and if all else fails build relationships with organisations who have the capability you need and can teach your best people to do it as well. If not our reputation as a profession will continue to suffer.

Yes, another report by a company that profits from training HR and is an "outsourcee" of a lot of HR departments.
The link was not working so I didn't have a chance to see who "a significant portion of respondents" even are. My guess would be executives who won't ALLOW their HR dept's to be "reskilled" because they like having them as a scapegoat to blame. They say they want strategic but they don't really mean it.
At least that is what I have seen on this side of the pond. Of course I am extremely biased though. :)
I agree Wench most of these reports do seem to come from vendors. I like the idea of smoke filled rooms of CEO working out how to get to the HRD!
